Since April 2026, the GST portion of your commission reaches you only if a valid signed invoice reaches the registrar inside that window. Here is what those nine days ask of you, and how to plan them so there is no rush at the end.
Miss the 15th and nothing is lost, but 18% of that month's brokerage waits for the next cycle. Try it on your own file first.
Fund houses pay base commission to every distributor. The GST portion is released only to a GST registered distributor who has raised a valid invoice and uploaded it to the registrar inside the window. The registrars then release the GST against accepted invoices by the end of the month.
The practical effect is that a monthly administrative job now sits directly in front of a part of your income. A distributor working with 18 fund houses raises 18 invoices, each with its own serial number, taxable value, tax split and signature, and each has to go back in the registrar's own format.
Collect. CAMS emails the monthly invoice ZIP through the Distributor Mailback Service. KFIN publishes its set on the portal.
Check. Is every fund house you expect present? A missing one is a mapping problem and it takes days, so find it now.
The window opens. Generate, sign and upload. There is no advantage in waiting.
GSTR-1 for monthly filers, or IFF by the 13th under QRMP. The same invoices, reported to the department.
Confirm every fund house accepted your set. An upload that failed quietly is the same as an upload you never made.
Check the money arrived. Short payments hide easily when brokerage and GST land separately.
| Registrar | Period basis | Where the files come from |
|---|---|---|
| KFIN | Trail month | dss.kfintech.com, GST Invoice Management. Unsigned invoice ZIP from GST Invoice / Credit Note Download. Excel template from Signed GST Invoice Upload, Generate Excel Template. The finished set goes back through Signed GST Invoice Upload. |
| CAMS | Payment month | The invoice ZIP arrives by email through the Distributor Mailback Service. The Excel template is not in that email. Download it from camsonline.com, Distributors and RIA, Service Requests, GST Invoice Management, GST Invoice Upload, which is also where the finished set goes back. |
Upload your own registrar file and see real signed invoices for your own fund houses. No signup, no card.
Try with your file, freeThe registrars accept signed GST invoices in a window that runs from the 7th to the 15th of each month. An invoice uploaded after the 15th is not lost, but the GST portion of that month's commission is released in the following cycle instead.
The base commission is unaffected. The GST portion, 18% of your brokerage for that month, waits until the next cycle. Miss it repeatedly and you are permanently one month behind on that part of your income.
The upload window opens on the 7th. The days before it are for collecting the files and checking that every fund house you expect is present, so that nothing has to be chased once the window is open.
No. KFIN goes by the trail month and CAMS goes by the payment month. The deadline is the same for both, but the period each set covers can differ, which is the most common avoidable mistake.
No, they are separate. The registrar upload runs to the 15th. GSTR-1 is due on the 11th for monthly filers, or the 13th via IFF under QRMP. Both fall inside the same nine days, so there are two due dates to plan for, not one.
Check before the 7th rather than after. A fund house that was present last month and missing this month is usually an ARN mapping issue at the AMC, and it takes days to resolve, which is exactly what you do not have during the window.
